Last Thursday Mike Device and I played a short, but sweet, set for the Snique Peek happy hour in NYC. Dj Nique recorded the set and interviewed us after words in the weirdo restaurant above the club as we sipped weirdo iced tea. Read and listen here...

Banana. Hammer. Smash! EP by djanubus

Finally! It's here. The long awaited "Banana. Hammer. Smash!" EP. As my first original contribution to the electronic music world, the Banana. Hammer. Smash! EP blends my influences of hip-hop, funk, rock, disco, house and electro into three tracks that truly represent my take on electronic music.
.
"Lights Out" is a hip-hop influenced track, featuring in your face lyric samples, heavy bass kick and a moderate tempo giving it a modern hip-hop feel. "Disco Lazers" is a straight forward electro track with a multitude of synthesizers and a four on the floor drum pattern that promises to be a banger. "We Can Do This" pushes electronic styling towards the pop side of things with a bright feeling, melodic vocals and a catchy lead synth.
.
I hope you enjoy Banana. Hammer. Smash! and my ridiculous album art as much as I enjoyed making it. All tracks are 320 kbps and downloadable via the Soundcloud player. If you have any trouble playing or downloading the tracks please send me a message using the contact form.
.

Here it is folks! Track number two from us to you here at the Disco Llama crew (Mike Device and myself). Ok, I'm done being a rapper.
This is our second (demo) release as a pre-cursor to our upcoming mix tape. The track is called "Get On Up" and is another disco house banger. Hope you all enjoy it!

Look for our mix tape in the coming months, followed by the release of a hand full of our remixes and original tracks from the mix.

Get On Up by Disco Llama

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the folks over at Digital DJ Tools for their kind words regarding my DMC battle routine. Here's a segment of their article....
-
"Perhaps more deserving of the title is American runner-up, DJ Anubus. Not quite as tight as Unkut, but much more original, entertaining and innovative in his style. He makes much better use of what timecode vinyl and a MIDI controller can offer. It’s particularly impressive seeing him create a wobbling dubstep bassline by looping a /32 beat sample, creating his own LFO and cutting it up. This is what the championship should really be about: inventiveness and originality."

Incase you missed my qualifying routine here it is...

Well, here it is. The start of something big...
A couple months ago good friend, dj and uber talented producer Mike Device and I realized we were on the same path. The path to disco. We decided to collaborate and make a disco mix tape. We, then, decided to make our own simple edits of disco tracks for said mix tape. Then, it turned into full on remixes, turning into toying with the idea of original disco tracks. This was all over the course of about 5 minutes. As you can see, we got very excited, very quickly. So, we cracked open a few (insert whatever beer the "cool kids" are drinking these days) and started pouring over classic disco cuts. Disco Llama was born.

Bellow is link to one of our first offerings. A taste of Disco Llama. But, just a taste, an appetizer if you will, to jump start your disco-tabalism (disco metabolism?) This is the unmastered, demo version of "Out Come The Freaks." Enjoy.

So, I'm usually a grubby little hoarder when it comes to choice mp3 finds on the interweb but, today I felt like sharing. Ever since PartyCMYK's blog picked up my Get 'Em High Remix I have been loosely following their offerings. Today I took a scroll down there page (get it? scroll instead of stroll?! c'mon thats good tv) and found this little gem (probably because it has "disco" in the title). Hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I do and come out to a show to hear some new bangers soon!

NYE @ DiWine

This NYE I will be kicking out new dance and old school funk and soul at the very lovely DiWine in Astoria, NY. The night starts at 10pm with an open bar but, you can get some seriously delicious grub from their Chef Joe Fusco starting at 5pm. I will jump on the tables at 11pm to get the party moving up to and beyond the champaign toast at midnight.

This place is really an amazing find and happens to be right here in my neighborhood. So if you're in the area come spend NYE with your favorite Dj at his new favorite spot! If you get too drunk you can crash on my couch... or in my bed if you're a lady and you're feeling frisky.
