Twitch

Novation and Pro Audio Star sent over their new toy, the Twitch, and asked me to put it to the test and see what it can do. The audio is a one shot take that involved me juggling, remixing and twitching the Codes remix of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" as well as the original. The video is straight out of the mind of my buddy B. Dillon and shot and edited by whiz kid Ryan Kleier. Enjoy!

The results are in: I AM OFFICIALLY #7 IN THE WORLD!!!!
.
14, former DMC world champion, judges weighed in averaging me at 7th place. DJs Greem and Pfel (Both of C2C, the French DMC Team champions from 1999 through 2007) each ranked me 2nd, just under the champion Unkut. I have to say that really put a smile on my face and I feel honored to be judged in such a way by such prestigious DJs. This was the very first DMC online world championship and it was quite the experience. It gave me a chance to connect with DJs from all around the world, sharing each other's music, strengthening our community and officially taking the DJ battle scene into a new digital age. To even be a part of the most prestigious DJ battle in the world is beyond anything I could ask for.
.
So, that's it! I have an official world ranking that I am proud of and I couldn't have done it without all of you! The amount of posts, tags, re-posts, tweets, twats, and whatever else you put ont he damn internet, that went up in support were truly amazing. I can't say thank you enough to all my Facebook fans, Twitter followers, Pro Audio Star fans and personal friends all over the country and world. You guys really came through for me and I appreciate it. Thanks you. Thanks a bunch. You da you da best. High five.
.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled shenanigans. I will have some shows coming up soon as well as a few remixes and more music from Disco Llama, which along with Pro Audio Star, will be getting the majority of my attention from here on in. There is new music here on my website as well as at www.discollama.com with more to come in the near future. I am working furiously with Pro Audio Star ( www.proaudiostar.com ) to produce demo videos, new routines, audio, copy and more so, stay tuned for a good amount of content and free music.
.
That's all for now. Ta ta!

I'd like to start by saying thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to register and vote on my DMC video. You all showed an amazing amount of support and kept me in the top 10. But, now, it's out of your hands. The top 10, as chosen by you, will now be judged by former DMC world champions and the best DJs from around the globe. By mid Monday we will know the official results and my ranking in the world as a turntablist. So, THANK YOU, over and over again. It means the world to me.
.
Moving forward, look for more music from Disco Llama (we're releasing "EP2" when I'm done writing this) and more videos from me demoing products and other fun treats (new Pro Audio Star demo coming this month). Deuces.

PS- I want to share this article from Chris Alker about turntablism. Written based on DMCs, it shares some good points about style and the shape of turntablism today. It also shares my video, so props!

Well, the time is finally upon us. As of Monday, August 8th at Noon o'clock, the voting for the DMC Online World Championship Finals is open to the public. To quote DMC...
"...that public voting begins from 5pm (GMT) on the 8th August. The public's TOP TEN will be finalized at 5pm (GMT) on Tuesday the 30th August at which point these ten performances will be handed over to the panel of DMC CHAMPIONS who will be watching and judging in every corner of the world."
So, as before I need your vote to get my routine into the hands of the final deciders, the DMC judges. So, I hope that you will take the time to sign up, vote and share my routine with your friends and family (note: your grandma loves dubstep beat juggles).

Electro Wars

Want a little insight into Electronic music? A short film has been running around called "The Electro Wars" which quickly documents the current trend in electro from a personal/ fan stand point. Its an interesting little flick. It will be available at the following link for the next 24 hours.

I'm in! The public voted and put me in the top 10 (2nd for %99 of the voting period) and today the DMC judges ranked me #2 which takes me (along with winner Unkut) directly to the first ever DMC Online World Championship Finals! The world finals require me to come up with a 6 minute routine and battle the best from 11 rounds of DJs around the world. Should be quite the humbling experience... I could probably use it anyways. But for now.... Yeaaahhhhhhhh!

Thank all of you who voted to keep me in the top 10 and everyone who posted and re-posted my video in their boogs, facebooks, websites and emails. It was really amazing to see all the support. Thanks! The world finals are in August so, I should probably go ahead and start practicing now.

Check out the official results here - http://www.dmcdjonline.com/results.php

-Dj Anubus (DMC World Finalist) <- I feel like putting that after my name all the time now.

So, I have entered a submission for the new DMC Dj Battle online.
The way it works is people vote on the 2min videos of all of the Djs, for the next 2 weeks, and the 10 with the most votes get judged by official DMC judges. Those judges will pick 2 Djs to go on to the finals. So, I'm asking kindly that you go to
-
http://www.dmcdjonline.com/vote.php
then go to my video at http://www.dmcdjonline.com/watch-video.php?vid=Nzc= after you sign up and give me a 5 star ranking to vote!
-
and vote for me! (Dj Anubus) incase you forgot) Or, vote for who you think has the best routine. I think its me, and you should to but, to be fare if you think its someone else, which you do not, go ahead and vote for them (if you vote for someone else I will hunt you down and throw a burrito at you).

Every year companies show up to NAMM with some amazing new gear and many upgrades to existing gear. I go to Skratchworx.com for all my info and just caught this clip of a new product. Its Teenage Engineering's OP-1. To the common person this is just another synthesizer but, to tech heads all over it is a look at how far things have come. With the functions of equipment that use to take up an entire production room, on top of "iphone-like" motion sensors, all put into what looks to be the size of a regular computer keyboard this thing is a tiny beast. A skilled musician could perform an enitre set on this thing. What really caught my eye is the little screen. Look how crystal clear that thing is! Ok, maybe thats not the most important feature but, its flippin' sweet. I'm particularly impressed that this is coming from a seemingly tiny company. Not Sony, not Akai or M-Audio. That should really say something about the possibilities of technology today. Ok, nerd rant over. Go on about your day.

Like a Punk

I haven't heard the name Adam Tensta in a while. I'm not sure if its because I generally have no idea what's going on or because he hasn't done anything but, what I assume is, his latest offering comes in the form of "Like A Punk." The song is a nice meld of electro, punk and hip-hop lyricism. I assume there will be a slew of heavy hitting remixes for this. The video reminds me of the good ol' Buffalo winters (and episodes of "Hoarders"). Hustling through the snow to see a hip-hop show at a punk venue. Good times.

Pretty great video. What's with the mortal combat move by the Lil Kim look alike at the end?
